SUMMARY:ENERGY CHANGEMAKERS: Digital Twins and VDC for Heavy Oil
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to CHOA Energy Changemakers! \nThis year-long series features insightful\, interactive talks by technical and business leaders who are shaping the future of Canadian energy. \nEach event includes dedicated time to network and learn from each other. \nLet’s get together and learn something new! \n—— \nJoin us for our next Energy Changemakers: \nDigital Twins and VDC for Heavy Oil \npresented by KYLE PICKERING\, Vice President & Chief Technology Officer at ONSITE3D. \n  \nREGISTER TODAY \n  \nThe Digital Twins help in assessing the current state of a project site or infrastructure\, providing valuable insights for planning and decision-making\, and can be effectively used to generate significant return on investment in heavy oil projects. This technology bridges the physical and cyber worlds\, allowing for data analysis and system monitoring to head off problems before they occur\, incorporating three levels of complexity: point clouds\, enhanced models\, and fully modeled systems. The Point Clouds from Light Detection and Ranging  (LIDAR) are the foundation of the Digital Twins technology. \nThe presentation will include an overview of the LIDAR technology\, from creating the Point Clouds and visualizing the data\, to the applications\, limitations\, and practical use in de-risking heavy oil projects. Delving into the steps of utilizing basic digital twins in heavy oil\, the talk will tackle the analysis of built environment\, the module validation\, the deviation reports\, the deformation analysis\, and the project planning and collaboration. The speaker will illustrate the practical applications and benefits of using digital twins in heavy oil projects by highlighting three specific projects: Module Scans and Virtual Assembly\, Coker Chute Analysis\, and SAGD Flare Line Replacement. \nThis Energy Changemakers presentation is tailored to asset owners\, project managers\, engineering professionals\, students in engineering or geomatics programs\, and anyone with an interest in emerging 3D technologies. \n  \nWHERE: Calgary Petroleum Club \nWHEN: May 2\, 2024 – 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM MST \nThe presentation is followed by a networking session. \nThe ticket includes breakfast. \n  \nGET YOUR TICKET NOW \n
