Abstract: SAGD had humble beginnings as three 160 m long well pairs at the Underground Test Facility (UTF) in the late-1980’s. Those first SAGD tests launched an industry which continued to push the boundary of well length as drilling technologies improved. Over the last decade, the SAGD industry has continued to push well lengths to realize the benefits of accessing resources with fewer wells and fewer pads.
