SESSION SUMMARY:

For much of the past decade, Canada's thermal sector saw little greenfield development as capital went to sustaining production, debt reduction and shareholder returns. That is now changing. Producers are sanctioning new projects, following successful first phases with expansions, and new companies are being formed and funded to pursue organic thermal growth.

This session examines the business case behind that shift. Leaders from a larger producer advancing its next major project, a mid-sized producer building a modular SAGD portfolio, and a newly formed growth company will discuss project economics, capital allocation, execution risk, the fiscal and regulatory conditions that influence sanction, and access to capital.
