CHOA CONNECTS Conference – What is it?

The CHOA CONNECTS Conference is the ONE conference for business professionals and executives to convene on the most pressing issues affecting the Canadian heavy oil and oil sands industry. It is an event where ideas are shared, professionals connect, and inspiration mobilizes positive action. With themes on innovation, the energy transition, and energy security, we are pleased to announce the following program

Indigenous Partnership and Responsible Development
Chris Sankey of Blackfish Enterprises explores energy development through an Indigenous lens, including the required conversations that lead to a united, prosperous, and sustainable Canadian future. “Together, we are stronger.”

Pathways NOW

Darlene Gates (COO, MEG Energy) will provide a keynote on the importance of the Pathways Alliance, followed by a panel discussion from major producers on how the industry can evolve towards a sustainable future.  Moderated by Katie Smith-Parent (BD, Industry Diversification, Spartan Controls & Executive Director, Young Women in Energy), the panel will feature Rebecca DeMott (Canadian Natural), Charlotte Plombin (ConocoPhillips), Bronwyn Hyland (Suncor Energy) and Amberly Dooley (Pathways Alliance).

Towards a Competitive Alberta Economy  
Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA) will share the pathways enabling a competitive economy in Alberta that delivers sustainable environmental outcomes, attracts investments, and contributes to a prosperous, lower carbon world.

Energy Transition vs. Energy Security 

Kevin Birn (VP, S&P Global) and Raoul LeBlanc (VP, S&P Global) with provide a Canadian and a US perspective on market outlook and the delicate balance between energy transition and energy security. The session will identify and discuss the key signposts affecting investment decisions and actions within the industry.

Expanding the Industry Value Chain

This panel features companies along the industry value chain and demonstrates current projects and strategic initiatives in action.

PadX – Collaboration to Transform the Energy Industry
Moderated by Valerie Stewart (VP, Scovan), this session demonstrates the level of collaboration required to transform the energy industry. Applying the PadX project case, the industry panel will share lessons learned and the key factors contributing to effective cross-industry collaboration.

CHOA SPARKS on Innovation
This TED Talks-style format focuses on the various dimensions of innovation, including technology, process, social, regulatory, and financial investment innovation. The session seeks to convey a novel idea, spark curiosity, and create optimism for our future.
